THE 15TH INTERNATIONAL VIRTUAL FESTIVAL OF PROGRAMME PIECE MUSIC AS VISUAL WORLD OF SOUNDS: MACHINISM IN ART

This year for the first time a rather specific theme – „Machinism in Art” – has been chosen for the 15th  international virtual festival of programme piece organised by Vilnius Municipality’s Grigiskes Art School.  However, with 90 applications from various music and art schools in Lithuania, Germany and Malta, we can safely say that the aesthetic and stylistic idiom of machinism in music, developed in the first half of the twentieth century, remains as relevant, attractive and interesting for today’s young musicians. The festival programme features 90 pieces of music imitating the hum of a train, the blowing of a steam locomotive, the ticking of a clock, the melody of a music box, the sound of a motorbike and many other sounds produced by machines. All of them were captured in their drawings by the performers themselves or by the pupils of the Art Education Programme of Grigiskes Art School.

On the occasion of the opening of the Festival, the Headteacher of the Grigiskes Art School, Romas Morkūnas, congratulates all the performers, the authors of the drawings, their teachers and the accompanists and sends a musical greeting with the composition „Tractor Boogie”. This is a composition for accordion, composed and performed by Romas Morkūnas. Video animation was created especially for the festival by Sandra Vydmontė, teacher of Digital Arts and Composition at the Grigiskes Art School.

We announce the opening of the 15th International Virtual Festival of Programm Music – The Imaginative World of Sounds: Machinism in Art!
